California Poppies

Are California Poppies (whole plant no blooms yet) poisonous to chickens. I pull unwanted plants and weeds from the veggie garden and put in their pen for treats. Until I'm sure they are safe poppies are separated from the good stuff.

If you google it there are lots of references that all parts of the California Poppy are toxic to animals. Couldn't find anything specific to chickens.

Not sure what they'd do with them if you put them in a pen to eat so to say, but free roaming, chickens don't seem to bother poppies.
