They also use them as trainers for their "real" birds. I sold one rooster that I was a bit suspicious about what they wanted. On the phone they said all the right things. They were driving all the way from Elk Grove to Shingle Springs and paying $20 for the roo. I couldn't imagine someone would go that far and pay that much for a training bird. If they wanted a purebred roo, sure.

I did make the decision that in the future, all birds that weren't being sold as nice SQ birds, would instead just go into my freezer or be sold as table birds. I just don't want my birds fought or used as fight bait.
