Chickee - I have a lavender AM cockerel from Jean Ribbeck that I will need to rehome at some point. He is about 20 weeks old now - this picture is about a month old. I could bring him to Stockton if you are interested, or if you are planning to be in the Bay Area before then I could meet you somewhere. PM me if you are interested!

Oh we need to get that cockerel and my pullets together, then we'd have more of Jean's lines. I'm watching these but I really prefer her birds, so I'm going to order more eggs from her when I can afford it.

I need to come up with a spot light and a timer. Most of the birds that were moulting are finished, like the SPPRs. They started first, so they're done.

I have my bantam Wellie roo in with my girls now and they are all young, so I want to get a few more of them hatched out. Out of all of my BBS AMs I have one cockerel that looks black unless the sun hits him right and then you can tell he has some blue and I have 1 blue pullet. I also have Clyde. The demon. He's black and from Blehm lines. Still waiting to see how my little bantam Fav pullet is going to do. She's in quarentine and she'll go in with my pair of Salmons from .....OMG...Rose..?????? Man I can't remember Rose's name. I need a couple of BLP pullets or hens for my poor single Bling. He's moulting right now and looks more Blah than Bling though. I wish the FBCMs would hurry up and finish moulting. They are soooo slow.

I have a project started with a pair and wish the pullet would start laying, cause she'd be having conjical visits right now. I hope what I'm trying to do works out. She's a really pretty mix and so is my new roo and I want to see if I can keep her coloring in my hens.

Oh I have an update on my little Rockett. She's walking but still limping. She pulls her leg way up when she walk, but she's getting better and she's also thinking she's a house chicken. I have babies in a small container brooder and she keep peeking in and making noises at them. I think she's really like to eat them, so I don't let her near them, but she sure is noisey around them. Dakotah and my youngest Daughter, Vanessa (Makayla's mom) were picking on me earlier, because I've been keeping Rockette in a narrow box to make her stand up straight. She can turn, but she has to be completely upright. I did it this way to keep the leg from throwing out to the side and it seems to be working. Anyway I take her out a few times a day to drink. I guess my two babies hadn't seen me do it, because tonight she was out and they laughed at me. I had a napkin spread out under her and they started picking on me and asking where her silverware and bib was. I get "Really? A napkin?" hahahahaha Then she pooped. "YEP, a napkin!"

x2 on that! I can't afford to keep trying to hatch shipped eggs, I tried with 2 shipments of BCM, all scrambled and my last shipment of BBS ameraucanas was a bust too, she sent me a couple of EE eggs along with the pure and only 1 ee chick hatched. I'm tempted to try and trade away my wheaten/blue wheaten chicks for BBS chicks. That lav cockerel is lovely btw.

OH! My fav EE chick is sick, looks like she is dragging her leg behind her and has her toes curled...makes me very sad to look at her. I brought her inside in a box and made sure she is eatting. She is only about 6-7 weeks old. Anyone have any ideas other than Marek's? None of my other chicks have symptoms and she had bounced between 2 sets of chicks because her broodmates pulled some of her leg feathers and made her bleed.

Not sure what she has but try giving her Polyvisol without iron. Sometimes it's a vitamin deficiency, especially when you see the toes start curling. At least that's what I noticed.

I have LF Lavenders from Harry & Bantam Lavenders from John Blehm. Haven't seen an egg from any of them yet though. I will have to look up the dates. It seems like a very long time. I hatched Harry's & bought John Blehm from Sean Lial in Antioch. He belongs to the Delta Poultry Group I belong to. We are having a Pizza & beer get together on Dec 3rd at Pizza Hut in Linden if you want to go Kim let me know. We will be watching a movie, The History of the Chicken on their big screen there.

Hmmm, I just might be needing some eggs from you to add Jean's lines for diversity

Are you planning on going to the Stockton show again next year? We could trade eggs! I had a beautiful lavender roo from Jean, but at that time I hatched no pullets and I had to get rid of him to make more room

Now I wish I had kept him. I am trying to figure out how to work in a black rooster from Paul Smith that a friend of mine has. I need more pens!

Lucky you with more pens in the near future!!

Most of my Paul Smith LF Ams are black but there are a couple blues still out there I think. All of Harry's are Lavender & he referred me to Christine Kitsch (also in Pa) & all of her's were Blacks split to Lavender.

I am an impatient person, so it is hard for me to go through the steps of breeding my lavenders to blacks

I know how important it is to improve feather quality and especially egg color after getting minty green the eggs from my lavenders (the buffs eggs are olive!) but the egg color is teal from the black lav splits so I am encouraged by that

What do you prefer about Jean's lavenders? I do think the feather quality on her lavenders is better but egg color seems to be the same as Shaffer's birds. When I hatched Jean's eggs I got 4 roosters and one had a single comb, one was black, one was black with lots of gold leakage and the 4th was the lavender that turned out nice but I couldn't keep, so I haven't had any pullets from her lines so I would love to see pictures of yours!

Sounds like you have lots of fun breeds and projects your working on! A friend of mine sent a picture of her Ameraucanas (we shared an order) and in the background was her Golden Cuckoo Marans rooster and it was LOVE at first sight!

I have GOT to get some eggs from her as soon as her pullets start laying!
