I have heard that Californian quail sit in their eggs, I was wondering whether I could add coturnix eggs to fool them to hatch them?

It’s hard to get any quail to sit on eggs in a cage environment. They require a lot of privacy to feel comfortable enough to brood. If you’re able to set up a huge naturalistic aviary for them, then sure they might nest and hatch a clutch of coturnix if you replace their own eggs. But it seems like a huge waste of time and resources if your sole purpose is to hatch a few coturnix. Might as well get an incubator at that point.
