Hi guys I’m new here 👋🏽.
Iv gone to sort my quails this morning and my male Californian quail has an injured beak, he’s housed with a female, 1 male and 5 male Japanese quail and a pair or Mexican bobwhites but this pair are fairly new as in only been in the pen pen for around 3 weeks. These two usually keep themselves to themselves so I don’t quite know what’s happened. Any advice on how to care for him will be much appreciated. Should I clean the beak up? I have separated him in a cage on his own with food and water should I just leave him to heal himself or does he need to see a vet? TIA X

Wow thanks for all the hellos what a lovely bunch. Thanks for the advice. Iv cleaned it up and it doesn’t look to bad i think it may of just happened when I found him and before it got worse, but it seems to be his nostrils and corners is his mouth I usually use purple spray on wounds but don’t really want to use it on these parts. Is it best to leave him to rest now?
