Californian quail with injured beak

Hello, so my boy healed up nicely and I put him and his Mrs in a pen alone but it’s actually her that’s attacking him!! Can you keep Californian quails alone I read they should stay in pair but I can have her doing this to him she was only with him one day and he’s a mess again TIA x
Ask this on the Quail Forum. You'll get better help there. Good luck!

So she’s behind this!!😯
I think most birds like to be in a pair of more. Could you buy him another female companion? Don’t leave him with the female you have currently. Also is it ok if I ask- how old is this female? Hope all goes well xx

Thank you that is going to be my plan of action I think. They are both around 10 months old but she’s really not nice she had a go at one of my Japanese as well and made a mess of her beak and she’s done this to him 3 times now! She’s now in a cage on her own and I have put her up for sale and I will get him a new female companion x

Definitely best- try getting him a companion younger by a few months x
