Californians Do Heat or Do Not Heat Coops.....question added

My big girls don't seem to mind the cold as much as my wee banty cochin. She parked her little fluffy rump near heat lamp and didn't budge!

Hi there....boy, has it been cold! Yes...I've been using a 150 watt red bulb at night in the coop. Just enough heat to keep the chill off in the coop. And the windows get shut at dusk. We live in the foothills on the way to Yosemite and have had a bit of snow this week. I've read that they can tolerate cold pretty well just as long as the coop isn't drafty. Hope this helps....

I shut the pop door on the coop all windows, etc. Nothing left open except the vents way at the top near the roof. It was 26 last night. All the kids were fine this morning. They were all in clustered around the pop door to go out.
