Call Duck Dilemma, Hen to Drake ratio

I have 4 Call ducks, 1 female and 3 males. Since I have been able to tell their sex, I have been looking to purchase more female call ducks but I can’t find anywhere that sells Call ducks sexed/ female only. I’ve called hatcheries, looked online (Facebook is full of scammers or they won’t ship) and there aren’t any private breeders (that I’ve found) semi local to me in CA.

- Can anyone recommend where I can purchase female call ducklings, no preference in color?

Or my other option but I’m new to duck ownership:

- Am I able to purchase other breeds of female ducks (but they would be a bigger size than my call drakes) to meet the suggested hen to drake ratio ? To keep my drakes from fighting/ over mating ?

metzer hatchery should be able to get you sexed call ducks. but if not a normal domestic hen will work.

I purchased the calls that I have now from Metzer. I emailed them to ask but they don’t sex Call ducks. They only sell straight run unfortunately.

I don't have calls, but it is my understanding that it is ok to have larger hens.

size makes no difference drakes of all sizes are opportunistic and will get the job done and make him happy

Mallards are on the smaller side if you can find some sexed.

I got my Call Ducks from Metzer and they do not sex them as they are so small and fragile it would harm them to do so. That is why people do not sex them. I have Mallard females that I bought sexed from Metzer back in 2020 and my Call ducks mount them along with my Khaki Campbells that are females. They are smaller ducks and will satisfy your Call ducks if they decide they like them. I would go that route but not let them be exposed to them until they are at least 4-5 months old. It's funny to watch them chase a bigger duck but I have had them make eggs fertile from them so they can get the job done, lol.
