Call duck eggs brooded by a Silkie

Not a Silkie, but by a Call. 6 eggs, 6 ducklings.
Nice hatch rate, isn't it.
Silkies will do just as well. Call breeders do keep Silkies for just that reason.

Hi
We have had silkies and bantam cochins raise call ducks. It is so much fun to see the hens chase after them when they get in the water.
Good luck

You mean likes this?

She had 3 eggs, 2 developed, 1 hatched. The one that didn't hatch quit 2 days before hatch.

What color call duck is that? If I ever get call ducks I wont be useing incubators. Seems to hard to hatch them by bators. I would use silkie batams.

How cute. I have a silkie sitting on some duck and chicken eggs right now. I thought with it getting colder they'd finally be done being broody, but she wasn't giving up so I gave her a few.

Sorry, it is actually not a call. It is a Khaki Campbell, but it was hatched by my silkie Pebbles, so I thought I would share.

What I have been told, by call breeders, is to spray the duck eggs daily with a fine mist, if a chicken is hatching them. To keep the humidity higher. I have never hatched any ducks with my silkies, but I plan on it next breeding season.
