I’m looking at hopefully getting a trio of pastel call ducks in the near future for my little girl. I want to have everything ready when they get here. What is the preferred way of housing them? Wire bottom off the ground or natural ground? Any advantage one one vs the other. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm new here, but I have call ducks (pastel & snowy). I keep mine on natural ground, but they free range and are only penned at night or in foul weather. They are happy little diggers, so that may become an issue if they are penned full-time.

Ground is better than wire in my opinion. .I had some on wire that started to get bumble foot. Look up deep litter method that will give you some ideas.
Call ducks can fly and are perfect snack size for flying predators so you might want to consider a covered run, and predator proof housing for them to sleep in at night. They will not care how fancy their housing is as long as they are safe and can get out of the weather. Hardware cloth is better than chicken wire. That's all I can think of at the moment :)
