My daughter has a pair of call ducks ... just picked up a few weeks ago. Because of Ohio weather, they have not been outside yet. Currently we have them in a nice lided x-pen ... large breed. yesterday we sold a couple of poultry that are in the run side of our units. These are professional dog show units (indoor/outdoor). But have no lidding. I would love to move the Calls over there.

Here is the question ... do they fly? neither the inside or outside of these units are covered (with wire). The ouside is "covered" 12' of the 24' ... 8' fencing walls. The pekins had no probs in it, but the mallard drake I would just catch and put back home ... he never went far since his lady was inside! Each unti has it's own outdoor pool for summer fun...if we ever see summer again!

Thanks ...

I have a couple of call mixes and they fly well. It is my understanding that call ducks can fly very well. My mixed calls go up high, survey the area, and then come back down to join the rest of the flock. Its pretty cool.

Yes they fly.. I have 4 calls and ended up clipping their wings... live to close to a road and didnt want to take any chances... I only clipped one of their wings and they can still fly a short short low to the ground distance... they will be a 1 yr old this spring and wie'll have to see how they do.. they know their surroundings now but Ill prbly clip them again... (also live to close to a lake/brushy area w/predators...
