Call Duck

I don't know. Are you SURE there aren't any call ducks?:/

Not that I've found so far anyway. I've posted and asked around but mostly get no response or a couple responses of no longer breeding calls. One place called La Caille Ranch says they have a few on their private lake for pleasure so may get some babies but they mostly specialize in geese and peafowl. I will continue my search because I sure would love to have a few of these cuties. For now I'm going to try my hand at hatching some shipped eggs but have heard that there's not a lot of success in that. Keeping fingers crossed :)

I will!

If you find a place that breeds call ducks please tell me who because I have been looking for some also to show in the 4H

Oh ok. I found lots of breeders in other states. Just not any here in FL. There are even a few on here that breed calls and have some for sale. I would just rather babies to raise myself if at all possible. I ordered some eggs from the closest breeder I could find that should be here next week so going to try that route. I just hope I dont kill the poor little things.

Not sure why they seem so hard to find in FL. Have never seen any at the fairs or swaps either. Maybe because they require a license to own/sell here in FL. I don't know. $50 per year seems like a small price to pay.

Basically yes. There are a couple species of ducks that you dont. I believe they're muscovy and pekin. Calls are a member of the mallard family that are not native to FL and all non native species require a license to own here. Stinks but it's not the end of the world I guess :/
