call duckling hatched by hen!

This morning my hen (silkie chicken) hatched out a call duck egg,the second one hasn't opened yet. Is it safe to let her raise the duckling? or do I intervene? I have a 2.5 week call duck I rescued from an early break(posted it a couple weeks ago) and he's doing great,,can I put him under the hen in a day or so?? advice would be great
p.s my call duck pair want nothing to do with sitting on the nest,,or the babies. The silkie hen started to sit on them on her own.

stonykill a member on BYC had a hen hatch some duckling a while back and she did an awesome job raising them, so I'd let her have a go. as far as putting the 2.5 week old under her not sure they would bond but might be worth a try.

I ended up bring the hatchling inside,,she was almost dead this afternoon,cold and left unattended by the hen ( suprising for a silkie!!

Good grief sure is surprising, hope the lil one makes it. at least now your older one will have a buddy when the lil one recovers.
