I've tried to get a definite answer from looking at the duck forum, but I've not really found out which. I have some call duck eggs in the bator and they are at day 20. Do I move them over to the hatcher at day 22 or 25 ???

Thanks for the replies.

I set all my duck eggs on the same day and the calls come out on day 28 just like everybody else so I am gonna have to say 28. And it should be 28 because they are derived from Mallards

Ducks vary more widely than chickens for example. My bantam ducks typically hatch at 27-28 days. My other ducks, except Runners, usually hatch around day 28-29. My Runners a lot of times don't hatch until day 30. I am not sure why there is such a wide variation since they are all developed form Mallards, but there is. You just have to adjust accordingly. Some large breeders and hatcheries (like Holderread's) stagger the days that they put eggs in the incubators so that they hatch at least closer to around the same time. Maybe someone else that raises more Calls can tell you more definitively what they do. Other than that, I would monitor air cell size and look for pip.

some of ours hatch day 25 and all by day 27 so we use a hatch day of day 26 because that is when most of ours hatch. I would wing it this time with day 27 and next time you will know when yours hatch.....they are all different. If you raise the little SQ birds they hatch sooner. If your calls are a little larger they hatch day 27-28.
