Hey all! I've been incubating a batch of call ducks (whites and magpies) at 99.8 steady as recommended to me. Today was supposed to be the first day of lockdown--my last turn was yesterday. However, I noticed one of the eggs rocking and, unable to help my curiosity, I opened the incubator up to candle them all.
All but two have already internally pipped and 2 are rocking like crazy!
I understand that ducks take much longer to hatch and it'll probably be another 24 hours before I see much progress, but I've never seen pips of any kind an entire THREE days early!
Will they be alright? Is this a sign that they developed too fast/was the higher temp recommended to me too high?
Edit: ooohhh my goodness. I just realized I miscalculated. I set the timer for 28 days instead of 25. Which means I've been turning the eggs during what should have been their lockdown.
What an insane mistake.
So, since I've been turning 2-3 times a day during what should have been a lockdown... should we still be good to go, considering they managed to internally pip just fine?
