I went to Home Depot today and brought some things to make a home made brooder for my upcoming call ducklings that are due to hatch this month on the 28.

To make the brooder I brought:

A large clear plastic tote that is 106 guart,
A heat lamp,
Coated Neting wire,
Washers, screws and bolts.

It was very easy to make and only took me about an hour or less to do it. I had to first outline the lid on where I wanted to have the wire neting to set. Then I made little holes around the out line for the scews and everything to go into the lid and neting to stick them together. After that I cut out the big square hole for the wired netting. Once I was done with everything, I then scew the net on the lid and it was all finish. :)

I like the idea of easy cleaning and easy access to get the chicks in and out whenever I need to. Also I like the way it's plastic because little ducklings "or any ducks" like to make a big mess with their water dish or waterer.

What do you guys think? How many ducklings will it hold for two weeks?

Here is my brooder I made :D
