Yes.......Really make him feel like he was bad. Don't run and hit him but correct him...Make him sit or do something he knows and then tell him he is good...

I just make loud noise, generally a quick no, than reward them when they stop focusing on the birds, so kinda the same thing I think. I have yet to stop any chicken poop eating. I just ignore most of it.
