Where does the White come from?
The slate.
Slate combined with yellow gives you willow legs. White is dominant.
If none of the following makes sense, don't confuse yourself further by reading it.

Yellow w/w Id/-
White W+/W+ Id/-

Slate rooster over yellow hen
Cockerels W+/w Id/id+

I don’t know about that.
Ask nicalandia. He would know.
Now Silkie x Welsummer will give you white legged cockerels and dark skinned pullets.
Nope. It would give you all black skinned birds. Fibromelanism is autosomal dominant.

The problem with the Ameraucana cross is that I don't know if the slate legged chicks would hatch with slate legs or if they'd grow in. My wheatens didn't. D'Anvers have the capacity to hatch with dark legs though.

They can still make a good fryer. The commercial broiler has only been around for like 50-60 years.
When I have my own property all surplus cockerels will be processed.
I process all surplus Buckeyes. Even they are a little bit smaller than I'd like, though I will change that. They are tasty, but the dark meat is way too dark. Kinda resembles a turkey. I can only handle the breast meat.

What percent protein feed do you give them?

I don't know. Mixing breeds can do strange things. For example, this Ameraucana over Australorp on the right has gypsy face and brown eyes, though brown eyes are recessive, and gypsy face is not in the background. id+ and E can do strange things.

Go to the Leg Color link. It explains it better than I can. Nicalandia gave me this link firsthand a long time ago, unknowing of the great power it handed me, as it was what taught me how to be a leg color expert. :D
Leg color is the only thing I can be certain about when discussing. (Firsthand experience helps)
