Call Ducks or Bantams...Crazy Animals Around the Farm

Yes just the one. The other is making raspy drake noises I think. I guess I chould keep both, but I don’t know if I really want to.

Yes. They just have a lonely duck hen living with chicken hens. If they have a separate place to keep them I will sell the pekins to them, if not I won’t...

You would think I really worked hard yesterday putting up the fence..My knee hurts and my arms are sore.

The lady that is buying from me wants them today..She wants 4 so I won't sell till I hatch more though because I will not be stuck with one single Duckling if the others don't hatch.

I set 8 silkie and cochin eggs! Some of them were from the cochin, but most are silkie eggs.

I'm not up on genetics but know what colour makes another colour..
I don't like Mallard looking Drakes or Hens in Calls. I try to stay away from those colours.

I like greys because they are a cute version of what I normally see, so quite interesting for me. Also, I'm a fan of how wild mallards look. So blue fawn and apricot are interesting because they are also in the grey family.
The other colors are too messy. I'm only keeping blue fawn and black because I love genetics, and find it fascinating that these sports popped up
Khaki and even dusky are my favorite colors; however, I can't show them and feel they would be more difficult to breed and acquire. Saw a really nice khaki at a show last year though.

Did you know Calls are really common in Wisconsin compared to other states? That may be why I find them incredibly easy to find. (Here at shows they outnumber all of the other ducks combined, it seems.) Also, I was reading a Call book and every other name seemed to be Wisconsin. That must be we you guys find them harder to find.

Not many Call breeders around me. People travel up to 3 hours at times to buy mine. I know of a few breeders sort of local to me..
