sooo.... came home from a feed run to find two chicks had died and three others were not doing well. the heat bulb had "turned off"... :barnie:he so for the last three hours i have been mourning my two lost chickies and nursing the other three back to strength. they had gottten cold and trampled when the others apparantly had gone into a panic over the light, knocked over and completely drained the water. so the whole area was soaking wet. enter new fresh shavings after getting all the wet mush out. mind you i was holding three little diddles to my chest to gradually warm them so they dont shock on me. then fixed a makeshift box i could set on the roost poles closer to the heat lamp. that freed my hands up so i could mix up some nutridrench and work on getting fluids in them. they are all three now able to stand and move around and are finally eating and drinking again on their own. the two i lost were a brahma and a cuckoo maran. :hitit was pure craziness. the hubbs was like "open their mouth and make them drink, put food in their mouth". of course i was like "no, they need to warm up and then i can dip their beak and once they are drinking then i can reintroduce feed"... silly, crazy, worried man! he had no clue but hung in there with me. (he bought it for me but had no idea what nutridrench was ). also, bought some SWAT, a fly trap thing/contraption for the stalls, white vinegar and a spray bottle to help with the horse fly situation on Nature Boys' man parts. guess what ill be doing this weekend..... sheath cleaning on BOTH geldings.... eh... it is that time of year. although i am now convinced all our animals would die if something happened to me.... :old

:thGlad you were able to save some of them. That's terrible that happened..:hmm

Down to only 6 viable duck eggs. The oldest duck egg is obviously dead, but I kept it in there anyways. :hmm Most of the silkie eggs don’t look too good either. :( So, looks like I’ll be setting duck eggs after these hatch! :D
6 sounds good Kayla. If the ones no good toss it out before it stinks..:sick
Did you buy anything yesterday? :D
