One of these. The girls have opted to stay in the henhouse for now, even though it’s sunny out. I think I’ll see if I can put the other coop together now. Be back soonView attachment 1289339 View attachment 1289340 View attachment 1289341 View attachment 1289342
Yes, mine totally picked a squirrel clean...All meat is. My Ameraucanas went nuts for leftover beef. Bloodthirsty little things.
I just use dehydrated mealworms. I put them in a small container and shake it, the chickens follow me everywhere. I also give a little click sound when they hear that they come running!Wendy and Albastru absolutely love turkey! Now I know what to use do get them to follow me around. My dad has cut down on eating chicken from the store and he told my mom to cut down on the amount of chicken she buys
I’m so close to getting his ok to raise 3-4 cockerels for meat this summer

6X8 I would get...Then it's a roomy Coop for nest boxes and Roost...While we were out today, we stopped at a place than sells built sheds and coops. Nicely built. My husband thinks I should just invest the money as it has everything - no mods needed. It is quaker style and they have two sizes 5x6 and 6x8. So, what size to get? The price isn't much different. However, I am afraid to get too big with only 4 chickens. My max really is about 7- 8. I promise otherwise it would be a waste to have more chickens. So, decisions...decisions.
I should probably also figure out a secure run - not just the open cattle panel right? As I call that my free range. Lol. I don't think they build runs, but I am going to call tomorrow to see if they do or if they have someone that can. I am giving up on the diy. Except the playhouse. That seems like too much fun!
My previous flock went crazy for them, but so far Wendy & Albastru aren’t interested in themI just use dehydrated mealworms. I put them in a small container and shake it, the chickens follow me everywhere. I also give a little click sound when they hear that they come running!
Mine love turkey, chicken, beef, eggs. They are very carnivorous. They like cooked turkey. There was some in the fridge that no one was going to eat and I remembered that @BantyChooks I believe said that turkey is a good source of protein for chickens. So I gave it to them.
They show no real interest in fried eggs or fried egg yolks or even tomatoesMine love turkey, chicken, beef, eggs. They are very carnivorous.![]()
I have never used them ever so Mine would look at you like you fell off the turnip truck..My previous flock went crazy for them, but so far Wendy & Albastru aren’t interested in them![]()
