How do you guys give oyster shell to your chickens? Free choice in a seperate container? I always just mixed it in with their feed and never had a problem, but someone told me not to mix it with their feed

Separate in another Dish and I only use it twice a week or they kick it everywhere..I also use grit and toss it out into the Run..

The same here! I sometimes put grit in a container too - just to keep them entertained.

Chickens can develop bad habits too so some are hard to break..Feather picking is one...

I just mix a handful into their feeder whenever I refill it and if they need it they will eat it. I also do it because I don’t want their feed to be the same boring feed everyday. In the winter I throw scratch grains and whole corn into the run for them to forage for.

Generally the coldest it gets is 20F, sometimes even colder depending on the year
