Yesterday I ran some errands, got some supplies for my landscaping and the coops/run.
I got home ate lunch and went out to start doing some upgrading. I was out for less than an hour and a torrential downpour started. Just my luck.
However, while out I managed to put some sand and river rock in the area where I keep the duck pool. Scrubbed all water containers including the pool. Filled everything up. The sand and river rock look so nice out there. I might want to do the whole run, but not sure how it would work on the chicken side?
Anyway, the ducks act as if I put hot lava in there!

They picked at some of the river rock and moved it around, but wouldn't actually step into the area under the pet gazebo. They side eyed their pool and everything. Never touched it all day. Silly things.
Also, I think I have figured out JellyBean's issue - I think she has depluming mites. Everything fits. I don't see any parasites on her at all. She has broken feathers (from over preening). It only affects a few (or one in this case). So, I read about a sulphur dip and as I haven't done that yet, I did get some sulphur for the dust bath area.
Sulphur used to be recommended more, but not many use it. I have used everything else, so might as well try it. The only other thing is that when I put ivermectin on - they say it needed to be a longer term thing for depluming mites. And, even then it might not work.
So, I decided I am going to do a few things to see if I can get her back on track.
I bought poultry protector and sprayed her down with it making sure to get under her feathers and everywhere. It must have felt good as she just sat there and chatted with me while doing it and didnt make a fuss. I noticed she has lots of broken feathers - more than I realized. I am going to do this every 3-5 days for a few weeks. It won't hurt. She even looks so much better this morning.
I added a new dust bath and will add wood ash and sulphur to it.
I cleaned out the coop. Dusted with permethrin and sprayed the walls.
I also got some feather conditioner supplement (manna pro). Hopefully all of this helps, but I have read that sometimes you won't see improvement until she molts.
