Call Ducks or Bantams...Crazy Animals Around the Farm

Oh, forgot to mention. At least one of my ducks can fly. I saw Beanie jump from a brick I put out there and glide to another area of the run. The run isn't huge either. :gig
They are also good at jumping as they are jumping up onto a stump I placed out there. Eye balling the roof of their playhouse. ;)
When I had Lucky still I was in a panic. I thought something got him...He was up walking around on the top of the Run..I could here little footsteps on the tarp..:gig
Are you clipping wings?

I am planning on it. I keep procrastinating that though. Ugh. I will get to it this weekend because I don't want them to get caught in the aviary netting over the run.
Which prevented a hawk two days ago. We were coming back from walking our dogs to see and hear a hawk circling overhead, but it stayed far enough away and then a storm cropped up so it flew off. But, had I not had the netting - it probably would have had a chicken or duck dinner.

The crows this year are thick so the Hawks haven't been around but the eagles have...

We have an eagle around here too. It used to nest around the farm. I had not seen it in awhile, but just the other day saw it flying over head close by.
They scare me because they are so big and with my Birds and small Dogs too...:barnie

Sorry to hear about your goat. Hopefully you get it all figured. Ouch on the knee.
:fl hoping it's just the need to separate so she can actually eat.... Knees feel better today, I think it was worse last night because of being out and about almost all day again yesterday. :( it was so embarrassing.

Yesterday I ran some errands, got some supplies for my landscaping and the coops/run.
I got home ate lunch and went out to start doing some upgrading. I was out for less than an hour and a torrential downpour started. Just my luck.
However, while out I managed to put some sand and river rock in the area where I keep the duck pool. Scrubbed all water containers including the pool. Filled everything up. The sand and river rock look so nice out there. I might want to do the whole run, but not sure how it would work on the chicken side?
Anyway, the ducks act as if I put hot lava in there! :gig
They picked at some of the river rock and moved it around, but wouldn't actually step into the area under the pet gazebo. They side eyed their pool and everything. Never touched it all day. Silly things.

Also, I think I have figured out JellyBean's issue - I think she has depluming mites. Everything fits. I don't see any parasites on her at all. She has broken feathers (from over preening). It only affects a few (or one in this case). So, I read about a sulphur dip and as I haven't done that yet, I did get some sulphur for the dust bath area.
Sulphur used to be recommended more, but not many use it. I have used everything else, so might as well try it. The only other thing is that when I put ivermectin on - they say it needed to be a longer term thing for depluming mites. And, even then it might not work.
So, I decided I am going to do a few things to see if I can get her back on track.
I bought poultry protector and sprayed her down with it making sure to get under her feathers and everywhere. It must have felt good as she just sat there and chatted with me while doing it and didnt make a fuss. I noticed she has lots of broken feathers - more than I realized. I am going to do this every 3-5 days for a few weeks. It won't hurt. She even looks so much better this morning.
I added a new dust bath and will add wood ash and sulphur to it.
I cleaned out the coop. Dusted with permethrin and sprayed the walls.
I also got some feather conditioner supplement (manna pro). Hopefully all of this helps, but I have read that sometimes you won't see improvement until she molts.
I think poultry protector has a soothing effect on their skin, especially if they are getting bitten and such by parasites. I imagine its like the cooling effect aloe has on a sunburn or something similar.:)

I've got a pair of really really Broody hens I think I may have accidentally caused them to become crazy like a dinasor. Problem is I only have 7 eggs to hatch on Sunday should I spit the eggs amongst the two or give one the eggs from the bator that arnt due for a couple more weeks.. My buff seems really good with her eggs as far as keeping them covered but my RIR has been kicking hers around quit a bit... I'm keeping them along with my babies in my office (in the house) the Broodys are in separate large dog crates and I have the floor covered with a tarp to make poop clean up better been letting them out twice a day but the red is a little more reluctant to go back to her eggs.. The buff does her buisness and gos right back but the red lingers around in no hurry for about an hour befor she gos back.. Im a little scared to give the Sunday hatchers to red.. As of right now all 7 are under the buff... the reason they were inside in the first place was because Red was being over mated and the buff was getting picked on so I brought them in and gave them some eggs to keep them busy while the heald...

I would allow the more committed Hen to hatch the 7 Due.
I would break the RIR and put back in the flock.
Or try her with your incubator eggs..Totally your call..
