call ducks picking

Quote:
We live in kY and got our first call egg of the season about 3 weeks ago. The drakes need more daylight to get fertility going so most of the time the early eggs are not fertile. You do need to start dividing your breeding pens if you want the colors to be pure and so the ducks will settle in. We don't even bother with nest boxes because they seem to lay where they want, but they do have a duck house they lay in. Some of the ducks lay in the mud puddles every time no matter what you do.

You can put the 4 grays together in one pen if you want. Just remember if you keep more than 2 females per male the call drakes can prolapse their male parts from overbreeding.
