My 9 month old Calls sleep in their 120 gallon rubbermaid trough/ pond. Over the summer I wasn't concerned. Their run is predator proof and it was warm.
Occasionally I find them in the tucked in the corner underneath the elevated chicken coop where there are leaves up against the walls. The nights are beginning to dip into the low 20s and many times they are still in their pond when I go to check on them after dark. They have a Igloo style doghouse with fluffy shavings that I have seen them go into, but they seem to not really use it.
So question is, will my ducks' survival instinct kick in before I wake up one morning to find them frozen in ice or should I cut off access in subpar weather?
