Called about Muscovy permit and they're clueless!!!

Ha! I just called F&W and no one knows what I am talking about, how bizarre??

I had to leave a message for someone to call me back but 2 people had no idea what regulation i was talking about. it applies to the entire US, right?

Hopefully I get a call back soon and someone can tell me what's going on and what I have to do to get the permit.

Dr George Allen, the person at FWS that drafted the regulation, has promised to modify the regulation to exempt exhibition and backyard flocks. There's a lot of red tape to modify a regulation that has already been approved so it might be a while before it's changed but it's unlikely you'll need to get a permit in the meantime unless you're selling birds or eggs (last part my opinion only)

you'd need to speak to someone from the migratory birds division to get more information directly. From what I've heard most people in other divisions are unaware of this as it is not their area. (it'd be like asking the butcher at a grocery store for advice on substituting flour in a cake recipe)...

If they still are confused, let them know that it is regulation 50 CFR 21.54 regarding muscovy ducks.
