Calling All Ameraucana Experts!!! Is this a Roo?

Well we were wrong its a rooster

... in the past several weeks his tail feathers have really grown long and I am starting to notice small thin feathers at the base of his tail & neck. I also heard a small screechy squawk last week that I think was an attempt at crowing LOL. The good news is that so far he is respectful of me and his hens and he isn't obnoxiously loud (not yet anyway). So I guess we will see what happens cause Im hoping I can keep him ... I just love his colors and I would love to hatch chicks that he sired.

That's why everyone, including myself, expressed some uncertainty in calling this one. Sometimes you get a chicken that you don't know for sure until it either crows or lays an egg. ) He is a beautiful rooster though.

Yes very true! the nail in the coffin was the screechy crow but after comparing him to my splash hen (which is the same age) you can really see the difference in their feathering. Her feathers are all around more "soft" in appearance and her tail feathers aren't as long.
