Ok so I have a chick (just over a week old) it was an assisted hatched. She was stuck in the shell for a while (dried membrane). Anyway she has a foot that toes wasn't right. I put splints on it for several days and it didn't help. Did vitamins also.. the problem with her foot seems to be coming from the joint or higher up her leg. Nothing broken. She doesn't use it much but is getting around just fine.

My plan is as long as she is fending for her self and doing good to keep her. Is this wrong? She seems happy. I have her with a few friend in the coop brooder. The others that hatched with her are with a broody.

Any suggestions I can do to help her have a happy life. Like I said she has adjusted well to the disability. She jumps to her food and water like a pro.

Not splayed leg. She holds it up most of the time. But will put it down to brace her self. It seems she can even move those toes.

I haven't had a chance to take pictures but I will.
She has been given poultry nutri drench.

Yea. She never could put much weight on it. She struggled alot more than normal chicks to stand. So I put a splint on her foot right away. It helped her. And now she doesn't seem to need the assistance to stand but her toes are curled and she won't put pressure unless needed.

I have never read of anything like this on her or heard of it. It sure is something I have never seen. I told my husband that if she wasn't able to fend for herself we would cull but she has been great growing and everything
