Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get some insight on what might be going on with my hen, Delta.
She’s an 8-month-old Jersey Giant who has been limping for about 2 weeks. She tends to curl up her toes and hobble on that foot. But there is no reaction if you put your finger under her foot. Whereas her other foot immediately clamps onto your finger. Outside of the limp, she seems completely normal. She’s eating, drinking, preening, dust bathing, and acting happy with her flock. She still goes outside to her run and enjoys scratch like usual. She is not laying right now.
We took her to the vet, but we didn’t do x-rays because of the high cost. The vet didn’t feel anything obviously broken and suggested treating conservatively. She’s currently on:
I’d appreciate any thoughts/advice! Thank you!

- Meloxicam (for pain/inflammation)
- Amoxicillin + Clavulanate (antibiotic)
