Its not immoral, IMO, as its mother was hit by a car. As it was too young to live without help, its dependent on us because of us. Cars are not natural. Ducks' evolution had no way to understand the concept of a car and a road and domestic ducks polluting their wild gene pool so they have developed no defense. If the mother's demise was natural, like from a hawk, then I don't know, maybe, I wouldn't interfere. In this case we ( modern humans) broke it so we own it, lol. As for illegal, I don't know that either, but I'm sure if its part domestic, they probably want it out of circulation. Besides, it is a great looking duck. Anyway, that's my opinion, I 'd like to hear others.

I had thought shoveler too, but never would have thought it to be true, still dont think it is though, no color characteristics at all of a shoverler in it anywhere.
No nothing wrong with keeping it even if it is. it is not a migratory species. If it is mixed with shoveler, it's just a mutt duck, no permits are required unless it is pure.
pretty sure it's just a domestic mix of sorts. an above shot of the bill would help, if it is spooned on the end, then MAYBE a shoveler mix

I guess I would assume swedish and call? she looks like a sweedish but obviously isnt quite so big!
