Calling all long-time and experienced members!

I try my best to answer the answer-less threads! Thanks for the great reminder that we need to pass on the knowledge and help newer people who are trying their best! After all, at one point we all were those inexperienced newer people with our first chicks, looking around with fear and going "What do we do now?"

I do try my best to help out the new comers, if I know what to do. I think they feel more secure about what they are doing if they getting present information. What was offered as a solution months ago, someone might have found a better solution by now, so present is always better than past in my opinion.

I also feel that if their post are not answered they do not feel very welcome. I always want everyone to feel welcome and have a place that they can help when they need it.

While I haven't been a member nearly as long as some, I still try and answer a few unanswered posts everyday.

Thanks, Maxx!!! You know I'm a big fan of yours as well! I was glad to help and would do it again

I even got my own Silkie because I liked your girl so much (even though mine are not from a good breeder

Thanks, you guys! I'm so glad to see everyone's responses...I hope lots of people see this and take a minute or two. Big hug to all of you!

I know I don't qualify as a "long timer" and I am not going to pretend I do.

Sometimes I can't help it, I promise everytime, not to be a butt. However the questions about nuetering a rooster because they don't want babies, or can chickens eat bird seed, or call chicks "fluffy butts" or sometimes attempting to "save" a chick that would obviosly be better off put out of his misery - or - or.

Then I think to myself--- self all these folks weren't given the advantage of growing up exposed to "country things". I recently, well 3 months ago started a thread concerning my purchase of a horse with no experience, got some hell from a few members, but I got allot of help from most. It sure was nice to get the answer to a question, plus the boost in confidence when some agreed to what I was doing.

So I promise to play nice with the other children, I will try to help where and when I can.

I've told you this before, but you have done a really, really good job with Cody! People did come on really strong, but came around when you really were trying to learn. My hat's off to you - you handled it like a champ!

I am definitely from the camp that didn't grow up around farm animals. Even my horses are not - and never have been - farm animals. They are show horses....nothing farm-like about them except the mice that get into the feed room & the cats employed to evict them! So this place was a great big help!!!
