I am making this thread so you guys can learn how to raise baby chicks!

1.) Pickin’ chickens- Choose the right breed for you, whether or be an egg laying breed or dual purpose breed.

2.) how to raise your new babies-
Set up a brooder!
Items you’ll need-
1.) Sterilite storage bin
2.) a really dependable thermometer
3.) a chick waterer
4.) a chick feeder
5.) Chick starter grower
6.) a heat lamp
7.) bedding- there are tons of things you can use but I recommend wood shavings
8.) BABY CHICKS!!
Your finished brooder should look similar to mine pictured below;

How to feed:
Feed your new additions chick starter grower until laying age then switch to all flock or laying mash. :D
For the first week of having you day old babies the Temps should be 95-99* F lower 5-7 degrees each week until you are at room temperature then you can set up a chick/grow out pen outdoors!

Good luck with your new babies! :celebrate
If you have questions just ask! :highfive:

I recommend a lower temperature in the brooder. 95 can cause heat stress. I usually start at 85-90 for a day or two than I lower to 85. A bigger brooder is also a good idea so they can get away from the heat, especially after the first week. By 2 weeks they definitely need even more room and stuff to do. Just some of my tips. :)

I forgot to put it in the first post but half of the brooder should be room temperature and the other half should be heated (this is how o usually do it) :)
