Hey Y'all,
As the MN State representative for the American Silkie Bantam Club and the National Silkie Breeders Association, I would like to announce a huge silkie gathering this fall. Its going to be the Western Nationals for the NSBA and I have it approved as a state meet for the ASBC.
Eric Kutch from California will be judging the featherlegs!!!!! His airfare and hotel are booked. This will be his first trip to this area. I cannot wait to meet him. The other 2 judges booked so far are Gary Rossman and John Thomforde.
The show is hosted by the Brown County Pigeon & Poultry Association. It will be held in New Ulm MN on October 10-11. Coop in will start on friday, October 9th at 5pm. Judging will start on saturday the 10th at 9am and usually runs most of the day. Awards ceremony and coop-out is on sunday morning.
This is a relatively small show... Last year we had about 1,800 birds. There were 84 silkies there though and some of the top breeders in the nation usually show up. You will see alot of very high quality birds present. This is also bigtime waterfowl country up here!
The BCPPA is working on getting the show program together right now. Once it is finished, I will get it posted on their website www.bcppa.com . If you can't print it off there, just e-mail me and I'll send you a copy of the registration forms when available. I do know that registration fees will be $3 per bird. Special awards for displays and huge trophies for winners. There should be a raffle and silent auction. Small indoor sale section and outdoor sales allowed. Lunchstand and bathrooms available. Camping will be allowed on the fairgrounds and a small fee will be charged if hooking up to an electrical box.
Any questions or comments welcome. Even if you don't exhibit, I would love to see you show up anyways just to visit.
Sincerely,
Amy Piehl
