Good morning! 48 here....I think we'll go down to Carthage for the Maple Leaf parade. I felt like we needed something cheerful, DH said, sure, let's go! It may rain, we'll see, 30% chance of .01" . Sounds okay.
This parade is big, usually lasts at least 2 hours, with lots of marching bands from far and wide. I'd like to see that today.

We were driving out on the 2 lane highway and a low flying hawk swerved to avoid our car and dropped a big black snake on the road in front of us!

Today's pics: 2 of the Spitzhauben youngsters with mama Moonshine. Look how tiny she is in comparison. She's molting and just now regrowing her tail, Beldar seems to be a bit of a molt as well.
Altho only 20 weeks old, Beldar has risen in the flock and now roosts with hens in the first class! The pullets are still on the economy roost, and probably will be forever. (Their father, Flugel, never made it to first class, even at 1+ yr old.)

The only non blurry pic, so I'll include it. This is Trixie.

I thought it was an odd time of year to find this little guy while broadcasting some grass seed out after the rain this morning. I went back a little later to see if it was still there and it had moved on. I offered to put it in my neighbors pond and she said NO!

It's up to a high of 71º today. But with winds gusting to 40 mph!
I think this may be our last warm day.

I have seen them carried overhead by hawks and by big herons, I guess taking them back to their nests to feed the kiddos. ("What kind of a parent brings a snake back to the house...!" "A predator bird!")

So, surprise! Our next car did _not_ have a moon roof!

It's about 40 here this morning and drizzly. I am getting ready for a trip to Oregon next week. Supposedly Kansas City is going to get snow Monday!
