It Doesn't look quite as bad now that I've got her cleaned up and the scab came off.
Poor thing was a victim of Drake rape.
Multiple times by the looks of things.
She is my oldest one and my tiniest one and she just can't get away from them.
I really thought she had lost her eye.
It looked so bad a couple days ago.

The only chickens we have killed on purpose was do to rapeiness. I’m so sorry. She looks great now

Thanks. He's being a really good sport about it so far. Jane has always been around dogs that were gentle and does not have a healthy fear of them which could be bad for her.
But since she does not flutter around much she doesn't agitate him.

I will be watching to see if the particular Drake who injured her continues to assault the other females. Things were going fine out there until his regular date decided to go broody.
rest of the females already have their favorite fellas picked out so he was having a little trouble finding a replacement.
Poor little Jane is just not quick enough to dodge him. She does not like to get in the water either she is too fearful of the other birds... She just gets trampled and pushed under. And then she has trouble getting out of the water even though she can fly, she rarely ever does.
Getting bred on the ground is awfully rough on them.
I am just going to have give her and her mate their own separate space so they can live out their lives in peace.

Got an email telling me that I can pick up my bees on Thursday!! Nervous and excited!!
Got about 90% of the dog run/yard secured with chain link over the cattle panels. Had to stop because of the rain. Think I ended up with some poison ivy by the corner of my right eye.
Hopefully, I'm wrong about that. Way to close to my eye to us anything topical on it.
Supposed to get more rain tomorrow. Just started raining here again. Think it is supposed to rain all night.

There was so much activity I had to open up the rear of the brooder a day early than I planed.
