I just sprinkle some on a surface. I have various little pieces of wood, log slices and stuff I call 'chicken furniture.' I sprinkle it on those.

Right now, I have yet to put much 'furniture' in, they are only a couple days old, so far they have a stick and a block of wood. Here's a few pics from the past. Some are cutouts left over from DH's wood turning projects. The pieces of wood get dirty and will end up as firewood, and so I'm always coming up with new ones. Also chicks love branches. Anything they can climb on....just look around.

It looks like “oriole” dreams came true .... lol, I can’t resist a bad bird pun

I’m jealous... in 2018 I had a mob like that with some orchard orioles... the last two years it’s been several, but they’ve been more shy...

I used to see orchard orioles all summer...I’m assuming they nested near by, but it’s been a while since I have

Of course I had already taken the camera in the house and it never came back to the feeder before it got dark.
