It was 63º this afternoon! We were outside w no jackets, washing the truck!

It was a beautiful day! I didn't even mind the mud, I just put my boots on and stomped right through it. I let the chickens out to free range for a bit, they were so happy.

We went to Durso Hills Winery for some wine and pizza. It was so good to get out... we still have some sleet left on the deck and part of the driveway.

We went bowling in Stocton for our youngest grand littles birthday on saturday. We ate loaded nachos.
I did not bowl worth a but it was fun. And those nachos were enormous!

Yesterday we went to work tearing down that old shed next to the dux palace.

FIRST EGG OF THE YEAR!!!!!
I cleaned out the nest boxes then put in fresh bedding and fake eggs. The hens and rooster all inspected them and have been talking happily….

I got 30 eggs last month from the 9 CQ's. One lays jumbo and I got two large the other day so maybe 3 are laying now. The RIR hens don't lay anymore, they are over 5 years old.

I’m planning to increase the flock this year because of egg price increases and I’d like to supply eggs to neighbors. I’ll wait for one of my hens to go broody so I won’t have to do the work.
