Poor Roos!

They'll get along fine with the noodles.

Problem is, many of us who actually eat our chickens are often berated or attacked

Yep. And while some of my hens are more of the pet type, and might be kept around after their laying days are done, most of them will become familiar with dumplings or noodles. Gotta remember that chicken poo is beneficial for those victory gardens we're all growing, so extra poo is always welcome!

I could never kill one of my chickens, but I will also never insult somebody for what they choose to do with theirs. If any of my current chicks end up being cockerels I will drop them off with my uncle and then gladly accept when he invites us over for chicken dinner. Yeah, I'm that kind of carnivore.

This is true, but if you go back and look at the post I posted I don't hear an attack in that post but I sure felt the attack back at me.

The trouble with reading a post is you really dont know the intentions of the person unless they came outright with an attack. But I can understand being attacked for eating your chickens.

I have my bantams that I wouldn't eat but I also raise chickens to eat and eat their eggs

. My bantams are strictly for their beauty. But if I gave someone a roo i wouldn't ask what their intentions were for the bird. That simply is not my business.

I see you are from Branson. I hope you all are doing ok down there after the tornado.

had my first chicken cleaning lesson a couple of weeks ago... did that as a kid but haven't since so I figured a refresher was in order. found a drill mounted plucker drum to order too... and roos on tap. I'll be set to go in a week or so.
now I just have to actually do it...
haven't decided which of these actually applies to doing it myself:

or

or

but I do know it will be tasty when I'm done...

that and I just got our second round of rabbit kits (20 days earlier than expected!) and I've topped out our rabbit cage count so it looks like rabbit dinners shortly as well.

<off to get my big girl panties>

dinner.
yum.
