I like your birds !!!
I am confused about your need for silkies, do you still want some in the fall if I have extras?
John
Well first I don't know for sure they are a pair and would like a trio.....Yes If I haven't found some.

I like them they are like puff balls. Plus I hear they are good for hatching and raising other breeds of chicks.

Why are you getting some?

How I spent my summer vacation.......LOL!

Pictures!  Or it didn't happen!

Seriously, taking shots along the way and sharing how-to's (& how not's) helps others and is appreciated.

Pen creep always seems to lag behind chicken math.....:th

I agree I've been taking pictures since I started the coop. Just haven't had a chance to get them posted yet. I will take some shots of the run so far. I figure it will be a work in progress as I will start in the woods soon and have to buy more chicken wire.

I almost forgot two and we have 19 Birds so far. We will be adding more birds as the run gets larger. What I have right now are mostly the golden duck wing Phoenix's and some mixed Bantam Phoenix Seramas. we are hoping to add some Jersey Giants to the mix. We are also hoping to add some other decent standard chickens. I am not real sure what kind yet I've always been a fan of the barred rocks but I think I'm going to go with something different this time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated I love the dual purpose Birds.I do think when our run gets finished it will resemble a small aviary. Not real sure what an aviary looks like but I can imagine it would be something like this.

Scope out the breeds section of the site. All kinds of reviews too.

Would help to know what you desire from your LF. Jersey giants are nice birds - the but is they take so long to mature.
Are you simply wanting something for personal use or something with a market?
There are some autosexing and sex link options.
Heritage birds for breed preservation.
Rare birds....
Colored egg layers.....

Another option and a personal fav - muscovy ducks. PROlific suckers. Good eating, good seasonal egg production. Excellent broodies too.......

could not decide this winter when I found out that chickens were in my future, so...... I ended up with six different kinds of dual purpose chicks. About a month ago I read about "kathyinmo" who started developing the Delaware breed all over again, now I am lusting after some of her's. She has impressed many with her birds.
