calling any one from missouri

I am smack dab in the middle of the state. Just started with chicks and right now I am trying to figure out if my babies like missouri rain or not.
Gentle drizzle - they don't mind. Downpour - they'll stay under cover.
We have them in a coop, I let them out and when it started to rain they went under our coop (our coop is raised about 2ft)
If it continues all day I will see about putting them in the coop
I'm on a hill so my coop starts off raised about 2 feet and ends up being 3 or more feet. How old are you little chickies?

Its only about 4' high so have to stoop to get around in it.
Don't see why you couldn't connect lengths of PVC to make it wider and higher.

There is a version that uses livestock panels for more security.
This is pretty lightweight so it can be moved easily. I like the idea of fresh ground under the birds rather than shovaling and living in poop.

If wanting stationary think I'd just construct a wood frame and use a layer of heavier gauge wire - at least for the exterior perimeter for better preditor control. Trade off security for mobility but I have LGDs and they do a great job. Interior runs hooped would break up the space tho.

But yeah, compiling materials list along with how-to and pictures.

I'm not strong so anything sturdy will end up too heavy (50 lb feed bags are my limit and that's with a wheelbarrow's help). I may go with wooden triangle shape instead of pvc hoop. Still will love to see it when it's done.

We were going to go with the PVC pipe for our runs but decided to just get a pole barn and make runs off the side of it that way we can build the coops on the inside and no way to get into it except for one door that will stay locked the whole time. With the issues we have been having we decided that this would protect the birds from all predators including that of the human race. PVC is really light and cheap to. We were going to make ours 6ft tall if I remember correctly. I'm Only 5' 2" and would have been able to move it easily.

I'll take more pics tommorow, finnish it and take more. Thought you were going to do stationary runs not tractors? Would be easy enough to attach a length of pipe and run axel and wheels thru it. I think it's gonna be light enough to just pull by hand. ATV or pickup with a hitch will move anything - provided bolted together good enough to hold up. For the prototype, and discovery along the way, have to say I'm pretty pleased with how it's coming together tho. Sooooo glad to get it done tho. Sure the birds are more than ready to get into it!
