calling any one from missouri

I will put some feelers out. A lot of breeds it takes awhile to know what sex they are, so you might have to buy larger older birds. Most can tell sex by 6 months old.

Dang quoted the wrong person...

This is to CDON

Did you say you are in Barnhart?I use to live in Parkton....
Anyway
I might have something..

My breeds generally get large combs most are Orpingtons and Brahmas but for the 3 Amercaunas 1 hen ....2 roos ...... so i can usually tell pretty well by about 6 -8 weeks what they are and an idea by about 4-5 weeks
These 2 blacks have one brother so I can tell his comb is already bigger

Of course its not 110 % positive on sex until they are 6 months I guess and the roos crow.( but some hens do too Ive heard)...and get the neck feathers . but all my chickens ive been wrong twice that I remember and that was with very slow to mature roos .....Maybe im lucky!!.

To me when you get them younger they seem to bond with you better
Chickens arent terribly smart but mine do know me from my granddaughter and son. and are somewhat afraid of them... well except my Brahmas .They let anyone pick them up most of the time. My experience anyway.

Roxannemc, I talked to you on Craigslist the other day.... I still interested in the lavender chicks, just got to get my coop going, but should be ready sometime in September. If I get things going good real soon, I'll be ready in a couple weeks

I Live in KC and we just got our coop built and moved in 8 Americuana pullets late last week. They are a blast and should be laying in a month or two. I did find out today that our dog got a hold of one of them today, didn't kill it but...

Howdy Nitro! I'm just south of KC. Sorry to hear about your pullet. Did she pull through alright?
