Yeah tons of ducklings. I purchased 3 polish (i controlled myself barely and didn't get all of them.) though one died of failure to thrive at 6 days old. Despite what they said all three of mine were different ages

aww sorry you lost one. I know they told me my ducklings were a few days apart. A Monday-Wednesday hatch. I've not gotten chickens from them yet. They often have beautiful chickens, though.

Yes! I love their chicks. They just had to fix the power line the night i got them. My mom ended up waking me up an hour later with my little buddies snuggled up to me.

Hey, Everyone I get my girls from Cackle. Been doing the chicken thing about three years. I have had good luck with them. This year I got Leghorn, Cinnamon Queen, Black Star and Barred Rock from them. They are 12 weeks old and doing good

You know I've heard that Leghorns were flighty. Man that is so true. That one I have will jump up and fly when ever I get close. The other girls will follow suit. I'll not be getting any more.

All these breeds that are declared flighty can be tamed. People that handle their birds a lot have calm birds regardless of breed. It's just that Mediterranean class and a few others avoid human contact. If you think leghorns are skittish, get a load of lafleche or penedesencas.
They're great for avoiding daytime predators though because they're always on the alert.
Those calm birds get picked off by hawks and foxes.
I've seen a fox on 2 occasions grab an Orpington in the middle of the day before the orp knew anything was there. I saw a hawk take a Wyandotte. I've also seen hawks attack flocks of Penedesencas. The roosters would give the aerial predator call, the hens would already have taken cover by the time the hawk arrived and the rooster flew up and took the hawk down. Amazing to watch.

If you miss out on Mediterranean breeds, you miss out on some of the world's best egg layers.

Projects are moving forward, I need pens, eyeballing what can go to make room and then there's the grow outs.Sorting through the brooder next couple days as I set older chicks out too. Will update.

I do know I have a number of cockerels from the Choc/Mauve Silkied other Ameraucana projects. If you want to improve or start on creating your own EE's or OE's these would be great for that. Silkies were never crossed in. This is from a rare spontaneous genetic mutation of a recessive gene that has to be doubled to see. Single gene "splits" look absolutely like regular Ameraucana. There are some I started a Jubilee project with as well. $10 - $20. A pen of breeders is available - pair to 3 pairs. Also a number of blue and splash chicks and juvies.

There are a couple of mixed English Orpingtons - some carry over of breeding pens that were late getting split out. There are a number of pure variety chicks and juvies that can be available as well.

I let my last Cochin Maran cross brood - hatched every chick - she and a number of chicks are available. I also have a nice feather leggs black maran roo $25 and a reverse trio of FBCM that can go $80 the hen lays a 6-7 color egg.

Debating about the 2 pair of LF Polish. Tolbunt boys, 1 frizzled, 1 smooth and 2 Gold lace/Tolbunt split girls. Good layers, have hatched and sold a number of offspring.

LOL! I have 30 pens. 2 free range areas. 20+ varieties and color projects in orpingtons alone - including frizzled. Then there's the Ameraucanas...Black and lav, lav cuckoo, choc/mauve, red pyle, regular and choc cuckoo - and most in silkied feathered as well or working towards. Chicken candy store here........... Love playing with the genetics - Mad Chicken Scientist!!!!!! So even my culls that aren't heading where I want to go for a project still make pretty spectacular yard candy for those that just want something different to look at. Want some candy lil girl???? LOL!
