I had a few dominque hens from cackle hatchery, they were good layers of nice sized eggs and nice birds all around, and they handled the weather well.

Hello!

I'm so glad there is a post for Missouri! I'll be looking to buy chicks later this summer...about mid-June (out of state for work at the moment). In town at the moment, so I can only have 3 hens. I want to raise heritage breeds. I am leaning towards Dominques. Anyone have any experience with them in SW Missouri? Do they handle our wild temperature swings well?

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

My parents have Dominique in Iowa. Just fine up there.

Hello fellow Missouri chicken friends!! I'm in Washington, MO, I'm new to the group! I just bought 5 chicks Saturday 2 Rhode Island Red, 2 Ameraucana, and 1 Buff Orpington. I'm hoping for all hens but I am suspicious I may have ended up with a rooster, hopefully not more than one. They said they were a week old when I bought them except the BO, it's about a week older than the rest.

It hasn't started raining yet but it's thunder and lightning.
