. Gonna make this my home. I just got back into chickens and currently have an assortment of layers and just 11 CX from cackle. I live in Roby, Mo. Anyway just wanted to say hi. Also a quick question..... what does everyone feed their DP roo's if you plan to make them your dinner? I hatch quite a bit and this will be their fate lo,

HI Scottyboy,

Welcome to BYC!

I just moved from Dixon, which is about an hour from you. I live in Salem now, but we are fairly close to each other. Roby is a pretty area.

We live about 45minutes south of St Louis MO. We live on 20 acres and tell everyone we just have a managre of animals. I also rescue so there are normally "guests" here ranging from foster pups to a foster teenager. I also have a therapy dog and we visit hospitals etc. Never a dull moment here so we thought we would raise a few chickens as well - new at it but loving it already.
Mo

Actually Salem is where I got this rooster on my profile from. We hatched a batch out from him and have another in the bator with an expected hatch date of easter. The kids will love it. Salem is a lot more advanced than Roby. LOL. We are coming down that way to go trout fishing some weekend.

I was born and raised in Salem, now I live in Buffalo but come to Salem frequently as my father and grandmother still live there. I have been reading everything I can about chickens on this site for the past month. Will be getting my first chicks in a month (if I can wait that long) and I am trying to learn everything I need to know before I get them. I have finally come to the realization that I will never know all I need to know. LOL This site is wonderful, though its worse than Facebook for letting me waste hours of time. I sit down thinking I will just look at one thing, coop design, or what kind of rooster to get, or what scraps to feed, and BOOM its 2 hours later and I'm reading about remedies for pasty butt, which I had never heard of until here. Anyway, wish me luck in my endeavors, I'm sure I will be posting questions soon.

Lol, it's not wasted hours, it's educating yourself! Good luck with your chickies when you get them!
