We are in Long Lane, MO about 42 miles of Springfield right outside of Buffalo

No way! My mom just moved to Long Lane this winter. For the last 38 years she's lived up here by me... just south of KC. But her sister bought a place down there with two houses on it and mom moved into the second house. I've lived in Missouri my whole life and had never even heard of Long Lane before. LOL! She absolutely LOVES it down there. It's so quiet, no road noise... no neighbor noise... no nothing but wildlife and peace. My mom has always been a really social person so I worry that eventually she's going to start feeling a little too secluded, but who knows.

You mentioned that you're going to focus on 5 breeds this year. What breeds did you choose?

Baby hicks are coming!!! Baby chicks are coming!! I was in TRactor Supply yesterday and saw they have their tanks set up for chicks. Now if I can just get my girls lying again!! They've stopped. But I had to move them from coop to coop so I think they are just getting back into the groove.
Spring is coming!!

People down here are a little stand offish but if she is a church goer that is a good way for her to meet people.

Our breeds are:

Black Copper Marans
Black Australorps
Buff orpingtons
silkie Bantams
Partridge Cochin Bantam

I guess technically we are going to do six breeds because we are butting a couple of easter egger hens in with the Marans so we can get some olive eggers
