calling any one from missouri

i have mixed chx. i know alot of people snob the chicken mutts but i love em. the eggs taste the same and they all look different. i guess that there is an advantage to having purebreds, you know that the eggs will be uniform and look good if you go to sell any. i was looking at what they had at hannibal farm and home the other day and nothing excited me. big chickens eat big meals and don't elude predators like a small fast bird.

Yoder, you are up in my neck of the woods. I am from Marceline about an hour west of Hannibal. Past Macon. You should come over some time and check out Schachtele's small animal sale. You can see what kind of birds they have and decide better on which ones you like.

The striped ones like a barred rock or barred cochin or Cuckoo maran? they are COOL chickens.

Come on over there is a sale this Saturday starts at noon. Take 36 from Macon to 5 highway at Marceline. the sale is south of Marceline 18 miles on the right hand side of 5 highway. Come on down, i will be there!

Forgot to say: I will be selling chicks there anywhere from 3 days old to 3 weeks old. Buff orpingtons, mixes and some ducklings.

DH wants to color some easter colors but I am just not sure.

South Centrel Missouri here! Ordered some chicks from the Cackle Hatchery in Lebanon and they arrived yesterday! Got 5 White Sultans, 5 Salmon Faverolles, and 5 Buff Orpingtons.
Gonna have to get started on a chicken tractor soon. Hope I don't have to build it myself, but I will if I have to! Anybody out there got any good chicken tractor designs? Easy ones though, because a carpenter I am not!

Ill be taking some buffs and sexlinks if I dont sell them all before then. Also anyone know what barred rocks are bringing at the auctions. And if anyone out there has a white rock rooster i would travel a good distance to get one. Happy easter everyone.

i am planning on going to the Sedalia Swap. Will some 6 week old Jersey giants and some barnyards. Also will be thinning out my cochin pens and will hope to have 2 black trios and maybe 1 or 2 blue roos.

I think that around here hens at POL or better are 10 - 12 dollars.
Have been getting $4.00 on 4 week old barnyards and 6 on 6week olds.

Hope that gives you an idea.

Sheila

Dude, you need to start coming to Schachteles auction in Keytesville. Probably an hour 15 min from you. They had a BEAUTIFUL white rock rooster, I almost bought it.

I knew I should have. Barred rocks at that sale brought 12 bucks.

Hope to see you at the swap in Sedalia or at the auction.

Wow! Lots of new people on here over the weekend!

Hippie--There isn't anything wrong with mixed chickens, I have an RIR mixed pullet and she is the sweetest one in the coop!
