From what I've read some squirrels will still hang around a bit, come for treats, etc. and others don't. I think with age they will become less people oriented.

I have a chihuahua that is absolutely squirrel crazy. She doesn't want to hurt them, but sure enjoys the chase. 2 years ago there was a young red squirrel we called Rusty that really enjoyed playing with her. He'd climb down a tree and run round and round the trunk while she chased him. Then he'd sit on a limb and she'd just stand there wagging her tail or barking. He became tame enough that he would take peanuts from my fingers and I could pet his tail. By the end of summer he stopped. I'm thinking he was making a family of his own and didn't want to bother with us.

Well maybe this baby is his offspring....

My Chihuahua/pom mix would play with the rabbits, chasing each other back and forth across the yard. I even caught them curled up sleeping next to each other occasionally. So much for the pup keeping the rabbits from eating my garden.

No, Rusty was a red squirrel. I'm sure he's still around -- I think he lives in the big hickory at far end of my property.

I hope everyone made it safely thru last nights' storms...News says tornadoes in eastern MO?

We had a line of thunderstorms come through here yesterday and the tornado sirens came on for about 15 minutes. It didn't get dark enough for one to form near me. I had a category 5 tornado pass 900' to the north of my house a few years ago. I'll never forget that experience.

Hey everyone. I am looking to rehome 13 Marans that received on 2/14 as day olds from Meyer Hatchery. I had more but one of my dogs broke into my garage located raised brooder and killed a few. She's heading back to the shelter she came from and now I have a brooder to repair and I'm three weeks out on my outbuilding being delivered due to the weather.

Anyhow, I have 11 blue and splash Marans to be finished for meat birds, black eyes, so not worth breeding. Well fed on Nutrena Meat Bird, BOSS, vegetables, and ACV.

I also have one lovely splash Marans pullet and one Black copper Maran cockerel that I had set aside for breeding blues. I would really like this pair to go to a good home.

I am not asking anything in return other than good homes for all, even those being used for meat birds. I am just trying to simplify my situation while waiting for my outbuilding to arrive. Please let me know if you have any questions. I currently have the little spending time with my pregnant gilt PB due anytime so I really need to find home fast!

She is an Eastern Gray Squirrel. Made it safe and sound here.

Ugh... I would freak if a tornado hit anywhere close to here or even just buzzed by. We had some somewhat high winds here early evening, but died down after that. I don't think we had more than a few sprinkles.
