I was just down your way on Friday. Still not quite that nice up here yet. Timberdoodles calling all over the place as are the frogs. Free-range birds now getting more and better eats than those with free-choice access in pens.

We spent the past 2 days cutting up and cleaning up a multitude of fallen branches from Chinese elm trees that my FIL planted as a windbreak decades ago. The wind broke the trees rather than the other way around. They are in the pasture, so no structures were endangered.
I saw a dandelion flower, a butterfly, and the frogs are definitely peeping...I don't know about timberdoodles. Are those woodcocks? I'll have to listen for them...

American Woodcocks. I can hear half dozen at a time dispersed around house and between buildings. One seems attached to area where our hay bales are placed.

Happy St. Paddy’s day show-me-state folks!

Some signs of spring here:

We have a few early daffodils blooming.

Heard wild turkeys gobbling behind the house at daybreak.

Heard a bobwhite quail calling the other day... first of the year.

Spring peepers are peeping their little heads off!

Think I saw a mosquito the other evening

A couple of male blue birds spent an hour rolling on the ground near the bird house out front the other day... sorting things out.

A chickadee has been spending a lot of time looking over the birdhouse when the blue birds are distracted.

Saw the first brown headed cowbird under the bird feeder this morning.

Menards is open untitl 10 pm again... ( we are remodeling ... and I’m trying to be an electrician, plumber, and carpenter... so this is meaningful to us)

My local sister has new lambs
