Just started to see snow flurries here

Our snow didn't start until around 1:00 on Sunday afternoon. The roads quickly turned ugly even though they pre-treated them.
School has already been canceled for Monday. I hear we are supposed to get ice in the morning and then more snow in the afternoon and evening.

We didn’t end up with much at the house today... but ran to town for almond extract (long story, family recipe, had to have it...) and it was considerably worse in town, just 12 miles to the north...

There is a coating of ice on everything this morning, no snow (yet.) It's 22º. We put the ice grippers on our boots yesterday. The chickens barely emerged from their coop. Now that they are confined to the run because of hawks, and not allowed to free range, out of boredom maybe they began eating the foam insulation in the overhead of the coop. It had been there untouched for 2 years. The roof is metal and it helps in hot weather as well as cold. I replaced the foam with cardboard.

The ice grippers were a good reminder! I dug those out of a tote and put them in the truck for my wife this morning...

Wow, that is really unusual! And your grandma made them, so they've been around a while.
I made fruit cake substituting dried fruit mix for candied fruit. It's really good in spite of being good for us.

It's gloomy, 26 degrees, misting rain/ice, brisk north wind here near Jackson. I'm thankful for a warm home and plenty of coffee this morning.
