My wife ran off to northern Missouri today and left me and the cat to fend for our selves...

It was a ‘Blue bird’ day in the weather news, but ....

I’d given a pullet/hen four eggs to set and found a dead chick in front of her nest this morning... She’s isolated ... so she’s a chick killer ... did a quick check of the remaining eggs... one was pipped.. the other two looked like duds...

So lil’ pipped went to the incubator where I have some eggs cooking

also I feel like the sunny weather did not make up for the fact that the cat’s dinner smelled better than my own... that seems like a rainy day thing

just remembered... I was up north last weekend and according to a bit on news I saw, the KC metro area was actually in a ‘rain deficit’ !!!

So lil’ pipped went to the incubator where I have some “contraband” eggs cooking ( I disturbed the nest of a large woodland bird last month dining farm chores...let’s pretend that means ostrich ) ...

so hopefully tomorrow me and the cat will have one new chicken baby and a few new “ozark ostrich” babies... one of those was pipped this morning and another this afternoon...

Well she probably murdered a chipmunk today... but maybe not ... we had a gazillion and she has them pared down to less *than eleventy-hundred according to the census...

but I gave her this ... and it smelled GREAT!...

I think it was that premium Best Choice brand... but still smelled better *than the leftovers I scrounged ... thanks for asking what I had, btw
